Dear Friends:

My name is Shari Edgell and this is my blog about helping you to go through the perils of our current pandemic dilemma and the aftermath of the pandemic’s effects. I believe that these materials will help you move through this crisis and also help you beyond it. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have been in private practice for over 12 years. The principles I will be laying out came from researching new ideas and developing materials to help my client population. Back in 2016, what started as a simple study on the word “worry” blossomed into an in-depth and eye opening journey of discovering the roots and recovery from an unhealthy, prevalent pattern in my own life and others’ lives.

In these very difficult and frightening times, we are all hearing an often used word regarding today’s global crisis, “uncertainty”. Although the title of the blog is “The Blessing of Uncertainty”, in no way do I want to flippantly call this pandemic a “blessing”, as COVID19 has threatened our lives, livelihood, and relationships in a way we could never have fathomed. “Uncertainty”, “social distancing”, and “the new normal” are all concepts we weren’t thinking about 6 months ago, but in a matter of days we were all forced to walk the plank to plummet into the turbulent waters of change, lack of information, and despair. Before I’d ever even thought of a pandemic, my studying back in 2016 developed into a comprehensive, systematic way of dealing with uncertainty in a more healthy way. I believe that my insights over the last few years in regard to these concepts will help you to go through what you will inevitably go through during the pandemic in a way that is more peaceful and more calm.

The blog posts are set up in a systematic way and to get the most out of developing this way of thinking in your own thought processes, you will want to go in the order the blog posts are numbered. I also set up a “Tips” link for guidance on how to copy and paste the worksheets for your processing and use. As the materials develop, I suggest you take a week on the materials in each blog post to consider your own patterns both as a way to determine what the current patterns are and then to transform your thoughts to new, liberating ways of thinking!

A few years ago, I planted a peony bush and I have been waiting every summer for it to bloom. I was so excited when a month or so ago, I saw a tight round bud appear on the top branch of the bush. I couldn’t remember what color I had picked and if I hadn’t remained patient in the unfolding of the flower, I might have started digging into the bud. I would have seen what color it was but would have ruined the flower and the joy it brought me when it finally unfolded in a beautiful bright pink. The same with your journey through this blog. The first few blogs may just be review for you as you have journeyed toward freedom. But as the materials start to unfold ideas you are not very familiar with, please take the time to process and let the information unfold with your awareness to bless you with insight, freedom, and peace. Please join me in this journey of discovery and freedom as we all go through these uncertain times!

Blessings to you in your journey toward freedom,

Shari
